It’s time to build a bigger, more permanent facility for the church to gather, equip, and send out laborers into the Altoona Community.


Walnut Creek Church exists to glorify God by making authentic disciples of Jesus Christ who love and worship Him in all they do.

Our passion is to see an increasing number of people in Altoona, Bondurant, Pleasant Hill, and the surrounding communities drawn to God’s glory through the preaching of the gospel and committed to the lifelong pursuit of following Jesus as His disciples.

Building Together - Key Principles

Building is inherent in the mission.

The Vision

What are we building?

  • 5 acre property on a main artery road in Altoona
  • ~11,000 sq ft. initial build with the ability to expand in the future
  • 300+ person auditorium
  • 1500 sq ft. atrium space for welcome and fellowship
  • Kids Ministry classes expanded 4x current space with additional age-rooms
  • Addition of adult/youth class and some office spaces
  • Expanded restrooms


The Cost

How much will it cost?

Total Project Estimate: $4,000,000

This includes:

  • Land Acquisition
  • Architectural Costs
  • Site/Engineering Work
  • General Contracting Fees
  • All Construction Costs
The Path

How do we get there?

  • The church has $200,000 in savings to date
  • We plan to sell our current property — ~$400,000
  • We hope to save an additional $200,000 over the next two years from budget surplus
  • Walnut Creek corporately plans to contribute an additional $100,000 from future property sale
  • If we can add ~30 giving units, we can cash flow a loan for $2,000,000
  • We need to fundraise, above normal giving, $1,100,000
The Initiative

As pastors and leaders, we believe the God is calling us to three actions:

  • Pray

    📖 Psalm 127:1

    Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain

  • Give

    📖 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

    7 Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.

  • Grow

    Like Phillip and the woman at the well in John’s Gospel we want to urge people to “come and see.”

As a church, our goals for this initiative are:

  • Pray

  • Give

    Overall Giving Goal:

    $1,100,000 over the next 5 years

    • We are praying for 100% participation toward our giving goal.
    • Please pray about a financial pledge you can commit to over the next 5 years.


  • Grow

    We anticipate the church will have to grow to reach the full pledge amount and are aiming to:

    • Add a second service Fall of 2026
    • Grow toward two services of 150+
Next Steps

What are some short term, high impact steps that we can focus on now?

In 2026:

  • Hit a pledge amout of at least $350,000
  • Have at least $150,000 of those pledeges given.


This will allow us to take 2 very exciting steps:

  • Purchase land in Altoona
  • Begin architectural design work

Praying Together

We would love for you to join us in praying for Building Together! Some ideas of things to pray for are below.

  • Pray that God would build His church.

    That this initiative would ultimately strengthen discipleship, evangelism, worship, and bring God great glory, not merely construct a building.


    📖 1 Peter 2:4-5

  • Pray for unity and shared commitment.

    That our church family would move forward with one heart, one mission, and joyful participation. That there would be humility, encouragement, and deep fellowship

    as we pray together, give together, and grow together.


    📖 Ephesians 4:12-13


  • Pray for joyful and sacrificial generosity.

    That God would provide the resources needed to accomplish the goals of the campaign.


    📖 2 Corinthians 9:7-8


    Pray Specifically:

    • for 100% participation.
    • for God to provide the needed pledges and gifts.
    • for wisdom and faith as families consider commitments.
    • for the church to reach its financial milestones with integrity and joy.


  • Pray for the short-term campaign goals.

    That God allow us to reach the initial goals needed to move into the next phase of the vision.


    Pray Specifically in the next year for:

    • at least $350,000 in pledges.
    • at least $150,000 to be given.
    • for wisdom and favor in purchasing land in Altoona.
    • for the beginning of architectural and engineering work.


  • Pray for wisdom in land, design, and leadership decisions.

    That every decision regarding property, finances, design, and timing would honor Christ and serve future ministry well.

    Pray for:

    • church leadership
    • contractors and architects
    • conversations with the city
    • clarity, discernment, and unity in every next step


  • Pray for growth and the launch of a second service.

    That God would continue bringing new people to Christ and preparing our church for healthy growth.


    📖 Acts 2:47


    Pray for:

    • for wisdom and readiness as the church pursues a second service in Fall 2026.
    • for volunteers, leaders, and ministry workers to be raised up.
    • for continued numerical and spiritual growth toward two healthy services.


  • Pray that Christ would be glorified above everything else.

    That every dollar given, every decision made, and every future ministry opportunity would point people to Jesus. That this initiative would produce greater worship, deeper holiness, stronger discipleship, and broader gospel impact throughout the community.
